Look Mom! Blue Hands!!!

What can I say? My Winter Sensory Bin had such great potential. Sigh.
Here's Little Thomas showing off his bright blue hands after a few minutes of digging through the blue rice. EVERYTHING in the box is now blue....the cottonballs, the erasers, the kid's white table...all of it is blue!
I have to say this made for some good laughs and thankfully I was able to wash it all off. But, I am a little scared to bring the box back out again!

So to all of my other blogging mommies out do YOU dye your pasta? Does is bleed all over everything like ours did?

I don't want to give up on this concept yet because there are so many neat sensory boxes I want to create soon!

Our Winter Sensory Bin

We have been busy putting the house back together after the hectic days leading up to Christmas, but as I have time, I have started gathering materials and resources for our winter preschool unit. When I was sorting the items in our Christmas Sensory Bin for storage, I decided that since the boys enjoyed it so much I needed to make a winter sensory bin to go along with our winter unit. So here's what I came up with...

Here's what I put in our Winter Sensory Bin...

Rice colored with blue food coloring
Take 2-3 cups of rice and put them in a ziploc bag.
Add a couple of teaspoons of rubbing alcohol
and several drops of blue food coloring.
Close bag and shake until rice is evenly covered.
Pour onto wax paper and allow to dry several hours.

cotton balls and white pom poms

Snowman Erasers

clear plastic beads

 Winter Sight Words & Letters
snowman, snow, ice, water
S, I, W

 Flat white marbles???
not really sure what this represents but it is white and cold to the touch

Dump it all into a box and you have hours of preschool fun and exploration just waiting to happen! The only thing I would change is having ALOT more rice to dig through.

Differnt measuring spoons and scoops for pouring into an icecube tray ;)

Other Cute Sensory Tubs I have come across...

We got a tiny bit of snow after Christmas which is rare for where we live.
So of course I had to take Tinkerbell outside for 30 seconds so she could touch snow for the first time!
She is soooo adorable :)

Santa Claus Knew We Wanted Preschool Toys!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Santa Claus made a mistake and left at least 4 houses worth of gifts in front of our fireplace. It will take days for me to figure out how to organize it all in our playroom!

And guess what? Santa Claus knew we wanted Preschool Toys & Games! Yay!!!

Art Supplies

Games & Puzzles

Mommy Tools :)

(I am sharing the Amazon link because it is super cheap today at $19.99. Normally this is around $35!)

I am sooooooo excited to start using this because I have been poor man laminating for the past 5 months! (In case you were wondering, poor man laminating is also known as packing tape :)

Laminating Pouches (I am sharing the Amazon link for the closest thing I could find...I think Santa got ours at Sam's Club ;)

I can't WAIT to start playing with all of our new preschool goodies!
But FIRST I have to organzie the toy room and Mommy's new work area where I can create all of our preschool resources.

This Counts As Preschool, Right?

My husband went on a diaper shopping spree at Walgreens recently when they had the B1G1 sale on diapers and wipes. That along with the Walgreens jingle cash made for a heck of a deal. We are set through potty training, I am sure of it!

Soooo....I had to figure out what to DO with all of them! The boys were more than willing to help and since we were taking the day off from our usual preschool fun, we mixed in some learning fun with this project.

We stacked the diapers by size so I could take inventory
922 diapers
1228 wipes

which of course had to be knocked down

Captain Rex made a road lining up the diapers

I asked Captain Rex to form a rectangle with the diapers
and a square

he wanted to make a triangle also...

Little Thomas being cute as usual :)

The boys brought me each number size as I called it out to them so I could organize them behind the entertainment center. Yep...couldn't figure out anywhere else to store that many!

Home(making) School
The afternoon was spent making cupcakes and a cake for Jesus' birthday party.

Baby Jesus in a manger mini cake
I printed a baby Jesus figure from Christian Preschool Printables and colored and laminated it.
This is the same printable we used for our Baby Jesus in a Manger Craft.

Do you think we put enough sprinkles?

Happy Birthday Jesus!!!!!
Merry Christmas!

Praying that you and your family will be blessed beyond measure this Christmas and that the memory of that first Christmas night so long ago will fill you with hope, peace and joy :)
